How will participating organizations be chosen?

Participation is limited to 20 nonprofits. Orgs will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis and must meet criteria:

The assessment is designed for nonprofit organizations who provide direct services in Kalamazoo County. Priority is given to providers of youth, mental health, or violence prevention.

Ideal org size is 30–100 staff (including part-time). Organizations with at least 20 staff or more than 100 staff members will be considered.

What is meant by “violence prevention”?

Violence prevention includes direct services supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking.

Question 3

Do organizations have to be a Kalamazoo Community Foundation grantee to participate?

Accepted Answer

No. Initial outreach will include current and past grantee partners. If additional slots remain after this initial phase, the opportunity may be opened to any eligible nonprofits serving Kalamazoo County.

Question 4

When will participating organizations be notified?

Accepted Answer

Organizations that complete the intake process will be notified of participation status through email (info@thebrilliantlead.com) at least one week before the start of the survey window.

When will staff complete the assessment?

Accepted Answer

Organizations may choose the survey window that works best for their capacity:

Cohort 1: December 1–12, 2025
Cohort 2: January 5–16, 2026
Cohort 3: February 16 - 27, 2026

Each staff survey takes about 20 minutes.

Question 6

What will my organization receive after participating?

Accepted Answer

Organization-level report with visual summaries, top 3 insights, and tailored recommendations (depending on an 80% participation rate).

Delivered January 19, 2026 (Cohort 1), February 13, 2026 (Cohort 2), March 27 (Cohort 3)

Staff-level results: Each worker receives a confidential, personalized well-being score with resources to build a personal wellbeing plan.

Optional upgrade: More in-depth report available for $500.

Regional summary: KZCF will release an anonymized regional insights report in late Spring 2026.

Who manages the assessment and tech support?

Accepted Answer

The assessment is developed and administered by The Brilliant Lead LLC, through its initiative Worker Thriving Co. The Brilliant Lead manages all tech, reminders, and staff support throughout the process.

Question 8

Will my individual organization’s scores be shared with KZCF?

Accepted Answer

No. When data is presented to KZCF, it will be de-identified and aggregated across all participating organizations to inform regional insights report.

Question 9

What’s the difference between the basic report and the full report?

Accepted Answer

All participating organizations receive a Basic Insights Report at no cost, which highlights your organization’s top three findings with accompanying recommendations for action.
Organizations that choose to upgrade to the Full Report ($500) will receive a deeper analysis that includes:

Data breakdowns by staff tenure, age, and supervisory status

Comparison of supervisor vs. non-supervisor experiences

Question-by-question results showing detailed patterns and themes

This expanded report provides leaders with a more nuanced view of staff experiences and supports strategic decision-making around culture and wellbeing.
